George E. Aschbrenner

George was born April 20, 1936, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Ernest H. and Alma L. (Hills) Aschbrenner. He died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

On June 19, 1961, he was united in marriage to Rosa L. Williamson at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. He was a career soldier, serving in the United States Air Force from 1954-1974. Following his retirement from the Air Force, they returned to Cedar Falls where he was employed in the Parks Dept. from 1974-1978, then was a Puralator Courier, then Viking Pump and finally at the US Post Office, retiring in 1995.

George is survived by his wife, Rosa of Cedar Falls; son, Rory G. (Tammy) Aschbrenner of State Center; daughters, Vicki L. (Rick) Nissen of Evansdale, and Teresa Thompson of Everett, WA; three grandchildren, Shane and Kayla Aschbrenner and T.J. Nissen; three step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Brandon and Christopher Buck; mother, Alma L. Aschbrenner of Cedar Falls; brothers, Harold of Clarksville and Ray of Waverly and sister, Joyce (Jim) Williamson of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Melvin Aschbrenner; sister, Lorraine Aschbrenner and granddaughter, Sara Hope Nissen.
