ADAIR, DALLYS 1908-2003

Dallys was born February 8, 1908, in Rochester, MN, the daughter of Harvey Mann and Grayce (Mertz) Dixon. She died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

The family lived in St. Charles, MN, where her father ran a grain elevator until his accidental death while she was an infant. Later on, her mother was remarried to Charles Gilson, who at the time, was managing the affairs of the Maytag Co. in Canada. Dallys received her schooling in Canada and in later years, the family moved back to Iowa and took residence in Waterloo where she met and married Keith C. Adair August 18, 1935 in Waterloo. He died December 17, 2002.

Dallys and Keith continued to live in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. Dallys became very active in various social and civic activities. She was a member and past president of the Cedar Heights Woman's Club and member of the Cedar Falls Historical Society, The Wild Life Federation and Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church.

After Keith's retirement, they enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida. This continued until the summer and fall of 1984 when Dallys suffered two major strokes, altering her active life.

Dallys is survived by her sister, Ruth Stafford of Memphis, TN; brother, Bradner Gilson of Denver, CO; nephews, Bruce D. Stafford, Bradner R. Gilson, Bryan S. Gilson and Bruce Adair; and nieces, Sandra Soash, Betty Neal, Roma Michel and Joland Evans and

She was preceded in death by her parents and nephews, John G. and William H. Stafford.
