Dorothy Alice Mark (1917-2009)

CEDAR FALLS- Dorothy Alice Mark, 91, of Cedar Falls died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

She was born November 6, 1917 in Eldora, daughter of George Chesley and Jennie Mae (Antles) Durham. She married Wayne C. Mark on July 2, 1938 in Lamont. He died November 23, 1976.

She graduated from Lamont Consolidated Schools and later
obtained her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). She taught at Finchford Consolidated School in Janesville. She was past President of Trinity United Methodist Women, Past Worthy Matron of Equity Chapter #6 Order of Eastern Star, and Past Grand Electa of the Iowa Grand Chapter of Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Reverend Richard Mark of Norwood Young America, MN and Jerry Mark of Ft. Madison.

Preceded in death by two sons, Leslie and Thomas Mark; two grandchildren; a brother, John Durham; and a sister, Ruth Zoetvelt.

Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services Saturday at the church, and following the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Gerholdt Cemetery, rural Cedar Falls. Mrs. Mark has deeded her body to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy.
