WATERLOO — Karen Marie Link, 42, of Waterloo, died Thursday, March 29, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Feb. 8, 1970, in Waterloo, daughter of Merle and Margaret Schupanitz Hinz. She married Paul L. Link on April 6, 2002, at Grace Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Mrs. Link served in the U.S. Air Force from January 1989 to February 1994. She received her RN degree from Hawkeye Community College and was a registered nurse with Allen Hospital and then Cedar Valley Hospice. Most recently she was employed with Covenant Medical Center as a nurse in the Cardiac Care Unit.

Survived by her husband; her father and stepmother, Merle and Carmen Hinz of Waterloo; her mother and stepfather, Margaret and Richard Melvin of Waterloo; two sisters, Sara and Tina Hinz, both of Waterloo; and paternal stepgrandfather, Richard Ubben of Dumont.

Preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Herb and Marie Schupanitz; paternal grandparents, Edward and Zerilda Hinz; and paternal stepgrandmother, Virginia Ubben.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, followed by cremation. Visitation from 3 until 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Karen also leaves behind her cherished dog, Dollie.
