Died May 26, 1969

Services for Merle C. Hayden, 78, of 206 Allen St. will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Waterloo Lodge 105 AF&AM will open lodge at 7 p.m. Wednesday to conduct Masonic rites at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home.

Mr. Hayden died at 7 p.m. at the Allen Extended Care Unit, of carcinoma. Friends may call at Parrott and Wood Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

He was born June 12, 1890 in Elma, Iowa, the son of John and Cora Rowley Hayden; and married Lillian Brandt, December 29, 1913 near New Hampton.

After this marriage, the Haydens lived in Charles City where he was employed by the Oliver Corp. for 25 years. In 1935 they moved to Waterloo and he worked at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works until 1958.

Mr. Hayden was a member of First Baptist Church, Waterloo Lodge 105 AF&AM and the John Deere Supervisors Club.

He is survived by his widow, a son, Searles, of 2611 Manor St., a daughter, Mrs. Robert J. Pritchard, Omaha, Nebraska, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. M. C. Troutner, 2034 Rainbow Dr., and Mrs. O. P. Hammond, Chickasaw County.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
