Dorothea J. Bauer, was born September 12, 1909 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Jennie (Vaughn) Grosse. She died Sunday, January 5, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Tupelo, Mississippi, at 93 years of age.

She married Edward J. Bauer on June 7, 1933 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1988. Dorothea was a former schoolteacher, homemaker and farmer’s wife.

Dorothea is survived by her son, Larry E. Bauer and his wife Bonnie, of Tupelo, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Allan and Michael Bauer; three step-grandchildren, Jessica Arendt, Rusty Smith and Chris Smith; two great-grandchildren, Scout and Ryan Bauer; ten step-great-grandchildren, Jordon, Hannah, Madison, Marie, Ericka, Chapman, Austin, Whitney Reed and Brody, and a brother, Albert Grosse of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; a sister, Eva Osborne and two brothers, Irvin and Andrew Grosse.

Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls with burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Dike, Iowa.

A memorial fund will be established.
