DUNKERTON — James Henry “Joe” Magee, 73, of Dunkerton, died Thursday, Feb. 23, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born May 2, 1938, in Waterloo, son of Loraine “Joe” and Velma Moeller Magee. He married Kathryn Mueller March 8, 1959, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Maxfield.

He graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1955. Mr. Magee worked at Rath Meat Packing in Waterloo, and in 1966 went to work at John Deere in Waterloo, retiring in 1996. He also farmed the Magee family farm near Dunkerton from 1978-1988. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Readlyn, and a past member of Dunkerton Ambulance Department, Lions Club, and the Eagles.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Tami (Stacey) Wilson of Elk Run Heights and Candy (Dave Crooks Jr.) Magee of Johnston; a son, Randy (Deb) of Lodi, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Breanne (Derek) Fourtner, Kesley Magee, Blaine Magee, Andrew Wilson, Troy Wilson, Hannah Crooks and Max Crooks; two brothers, Daryl of Waterloo and Keith (Joan) of Anacortes, Wash.; a sister, Mary (Sam) Weidman of Richmond, Va.; and a brother-in-law, Rev. Don Moll of Batavia, Ill.

Preceded in death by a brother, David; a sister, Jeanette Moll; and two sisters-in-law, Leasa Magee and Judy Magee.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Readlyn, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Readlyn.

Joe enjoyed fishing, golfing, NASCAR, playing cards, and socializing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
