CEDAR FALLS — Maynard P. "Chick" Henderson, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Western Home Communities-Windhaven.

He was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Algona, son of Phil C. and Minnie Stetsen Henderson. He married Dorothy L. Fuller Oct. 16, 1948, at First Baptist Church in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Henderson graduated from LaVerne High School, and attended Morningside College and Iowa State Teachers College. He farmed in the Cedar Falls area for more than 50 years, and was an athletic official at high school and college levels for 37 years. He was inducted into the UNI Hall of Fame, Iowa Coaches Hall of Fame, and Iowa Officials Hall of Fame.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Linda (John) Sorensen of Clear Lake and Elizabeth (Joe) Burkett of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Cory and Adam Clopton, and Laura Burkett; and a sister, Jerry Huggins of LaVerne.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Larry; and two sisters, Janette Cupps and Marcella Surby.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. He deeded his body to the Deeded Body Program at the University of Iowa. Inurnment will occur at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls.
