[Iowa State Reporter - Thursday, September 28, 1893, Waterloo, Iowa]

DIED. — Early Tuesday morning Mrs. Emeline Neill, mother of Mrs John Rush and W. J. Neill, died at the residence of her daughter on Independence Avenue. [Waterloo] Deceased Has been an invalid for many years, suffering from heart trouble.

For more than two months she has been bed ridden, and death came to her peacefully, while asleep.
Deceased was 70 years of age

She was born at Zauesville, Ohio, an came to Iowa in 1860, settling with her husband at Washington, Iowa. Later they moved to Buchanan County and then to Delaware County, where Mr. Neill died at Hopkinton some fourteen years ago.

Six children survive Mrs. Neill, two being residents of Waterloo. Funeral services were held at Mr. Rush's residence yesterday morning, and the remains were taken to Hopkinton for interment beside her husband.

Her gravestone shows she was born September 5, 1823, died September 26, 1893, and was the wife of Rev. James Neill. He died January 15, 1880. They are buried at Hopkinton Cemetery, Hopkinton, Delaware County Iowa. Gravestone can be viewed here:
