Craig E. Christie, was born on August 10, 1929 at Brookings, South Dakota to C. B. and Alta (Palmer) Christie. He died on Wednesday, December 16, 1998 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa at 69 years of age.

He married Dorothy R. Pickard on May 1, 1954 in Volga, South Dakota. She preceded him in death on February 17, 1992.

Craig attended country school near Brookings and graduated from Brookings High School. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. Craig was employed by John Deere in Cedar Falls as a mechanical Engineer for 31 years until his retirement in 1984.Craig was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, American Society of Agricultural Engineers, American Society of Automotive Engineers and the Waterloo Technical Society. He served on the board of directors of Christian Crusaders and was currently on the church council of Nazareth Lutheran Church, where he was serving as chairman of the mission and social action committee.

Craig is survived by his brother, Dean and his wife, Helen of Brookings, S.D. and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy.

Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 21, 1998 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Brookings, South Dakota. Memorials to the church.
