WATERLOO - Robert Campbell Sr., 82, of Waterloo, died Monday, Feb. 20, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 19, 1929, in Tchula, Miss., son of George Campbell Sr. and Anna Grant. He married Bernice Brown on Dec. 6, 1946, in Tchula.

Mr. Campbell was a graduate of Gates College. He retired from John Deere after 38 years of service and was a union steward.

Survived by his wife; four daughters, Betty Jackson, Patty Campbell, Rebecca Grisby and Clara Wright, all of Waterloo; four sons, Alston R. and Robert Jr., both of Waterloo, William (Jill) of Cedar Rapids and Tony (Debbie) of Iowa City; 45 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Irvin of Ypsilanti, Mich.

Preceded in death by six brothers, Jesse, Nathan, William, George Jr., Henry and Alexander; four sisters, Clara, Elnora, Ollie Mae and Rosie; and a daughter in infancy.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and for an hour before services Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church. Sanders Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 425 Charles St., where they will receive friends.

He was a deacon at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, and he also enjoyed fishing.
