LA PORTE CITY - Cecelia E. Smith, 90, of La Porte City, died at home Monday, Feb. 20, of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Monticello, daughter of Hans and Christina Martinsen Mohr. She married Loren Smith in 1941 in Hopkinton.

Mrs. Smith graduated from Buck Creek School, Delaware County, in 1940. After her children were grown, she worked for 16 years at St. Francis Hospital (Covenant Medical Center), retiring in 1984.

Survived by her husband; three sons, Philip (Brenda) and Douglas, both of La Porte City, and Lawrence of Waterloo; a daughter, Sharon Myers of Mount Auburn; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; a brother, Bob (Dolores) Mohr of Hopkinton; and a sister, Betty DeShaw of Hopkinton.

Preceded in death by two brothers; a sister; a son-in-law, Ron Myers; a daughter-in-law, Vella Smith; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at American Lutheran Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at La Porte City Funeral Service, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
