CEDAR FALLS - Ecko Mennen, 94, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, Feb. 9, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

He was born Aug. 10, 1917, near Grundy Center, son of Ecko and Florence Deters Mennen. He married Helen Mason June 4, 1939, near Dumont. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Mennen farmed near Aredale from 1947-60, did carpenter work near Aplington from 1960-65, and was a federal meat inspector from 1965-82, retiring from Dubuque Packing Plant.

Survived by two daughters, Betty (Gaylen) Brocka of Waterloo and Beverly (Trig) Gamble of Parker, Colo.; four grandchildren, Michelle (Greg) Thien of Tipton, Mike (Faythe) Brocka of Denver, Trent (Jolie) Gamble of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Missi (Eric) Holt of Parker, Colo.; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Cecil (Evelyn) of Columbus Junction; five sisters, Elva Drier of Waterloo, Eunice Kuhn of Charles City, Imogene (Rocky) Moyle of Springfield, Mo., Delores (Bob) Herington of Cedar Rapids and Rosalind (Terry) Andreassen of Waterloo, and a sister-in-law, Dixie Mennen of Mason City.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Janssen and Gertrude Neymeyer; and two brothers, Richard and Gordon.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Dumont Cemetery, Dumont. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and will continue from 12:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
