Services for Marvin Weldon RICHARDSON, 72, of 303 W. Dale St. [Waterloo], will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery [Waterloo].

Mr. RICHARDSON died of cancer Friday morning (Dec. 19) at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 14, 1914, at Redding, son of John O. and Ella STEPHENS RICHARDSON. He married Viola E. SHONEBERG Feb. 28, 1941, in Waterloo.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a machinist at Deere & Co. for 36 years, retiring in March 1979.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kyle of St. Paul, Minn.; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mae HUDSON in 1970, and a son, Gary on Sept. 9, 1986.

Friends may call at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, and at the church an hour prior to services. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., both at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First Lutheran Church or the Cedar Valley Hospice.

OBITUARY ~ MARVIN WELDON RICHARDSON

Marvin Weldon RICHARDSON was born on May 14, 1914 at Redding, Iowa. His parents were John O. and Ella (STEPHENS) RICHARDSON.

He passed away December 19, 1986, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, following an illness of two years.

Weldon was baptized as a youth in the Baptist church in Delphos, Iowa. He graduated from high school in Delphos.

Weldon worked in Des Moines before moving to Waterloo, Iowa, in 1939 where he was employed by several businesses before his employment at John Deere's from 1942 to 1979. After Weldon's retirement from Deere's in March 1979, he did volunteer work for the American Red Cross for five years.

On February 28, 1941, Weldon was married to Viola SHONEBERG at First Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on June 28, 1953 at the First Lutheran.

Weldon was inducted into the United States Army during World War II in January 1943 and served in Africa and Europe and was discharged from the Army in December 1945. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mae HUDSON in 1970, and a son, Gary RICHARDSON in September of this year.

Surviving are his wife, Viola; a son, Kyle, of St. Paul, Minnesota, and three grandsons.

Services were held December 22, 1986 at First Lutheran Church in Waterloo, with burial in Fairview Cemetery [Waterloo].
