Captain Rex Rothe Morgan 67, of Cedar Falls died Wednesday, March 24, 1999 at his home of natural causes. He born March 3, 1932 in Urbana, Illinois the son of Clifford E. and Amy P (Rothe) Morgan.

He married Natalie A. Handrup June 12, 1954 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Rex graduated from Highland Park High School in Highland Park, Illinois, Received a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering in 1954 from the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut and also graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy New York in 1962. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Juno, Alaska, San Francisco, California, Copenhagen, Denmark, London, England, Key West, Florida, New Orleans Louisanna and Cleveland, Ohio. He retired with the rank of Captain in 1984.

Survivors include his wife, Natalie of Cedar Falls, Iowa, his daughter, Sheila Ogsbury and her husband Don of Sarasota, Florida, his son Brad Morgan and his wife Vicki of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, and five grandchildren, Dayton Descant of Bradenton, Florida and Dana, Jill, Scott and Traci Morgan of Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Maurita Sandvig.

Memorial Services were 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 1999 at Nazareth Lutheran Church. Private family burial was prior to the memorial service at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls, with full military rites conducted by Cedar Fall Guy W. Iverson AMVETS Post 49.

Memorials may be sent to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association, "Class of 1954 Fund", U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut 06320.
