JAMES R. McCASKEY was born October 4, 1938 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, Wisconsin, the son of James Lloyd and Vella (Hanson) McCaskey. He died Saturday, February 20, 1999 at Guttenberg, Iowa, at 60 years of age.

James was a 1957 graduate of Tomah High School in Tomah, Wisconsin and attended LaCrosse State College in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He married Elaine Hoag on April 12, 1958 at Oakdale, Wisconsin.

He owned and operated The Hilltopper Gas Station and Restaurant during 1958 in Oakdale. James was a salesman for Mastic Tile Corp. of California, Green Grass Incubators of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Electric of Madison, Wisconsin and Electrical Materials Co. of Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He later worked for the Green County R.E.C. and owned and operated a partnership, Stair-Fold Scaffolding Co. of Staton, Iowa. James then worked as a salesman for M. C. Sales, Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin and later started The McCaskey Co., Inc. of Cedar Falls, Iowa, which he recently sold and was working towards his retirement.

James is survived by his wife Elaine, of Cedar Falls; his mother Vella McCaskey, of Oakdale, Wisconsin; his son James Bryan, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; his three daughters, Sheila Bergen of Traer, Iowa and Kathy Cory and Susan Wiebers, both of Hudson, Iowa; ten grandchildren and his two sisters, Shirley Hefner of Oakdale, Wisconsin and Mary Jane Bennett of Charlotte, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his father, his brother, William Thomas and a sister, Susan Mary McCaskey.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established.
