EVANSDALE - Maurice D. "Bud" Christensen, 85, of Evansdale, died Saturday, Jan. 28, at Cedar Falls Healthcare Center, Cedar Falls.

He was born Dec. 17, 1926, in Creston, son of Mouritz and Blanche P. Miller Christensen. He married Geraldine J. Lehr on May 22, 1974, in Galena, Ill. She died May 6, 2010.

Mr. Christensen was a trucker for H&W Trucking for 23 years, retiring in 1989. He also was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survived by a son, Daniel (Norma) of Comos, Minn.; four daughters, Diane Miller and Cindy Stickfort, both of Waterloo, Vicky Seaton of Hattiesville, Ark., and Judy Cromwell of Cedar Falls; three stepdaughters, Debra Harberts of Decorah, Karen (Gary) Vick of Raymond and Deann (Trent) Graham of Dunkerton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Marilyn) of New Hartford; and six sisters, Karen (Don) Ham of Winterset, Virginia Wahl of Hesperia, Calif., Dolores Morrison of Waterloo, Gladys Hirsch of Cedar Falls, Pat Landt of Cedar Rapids and Gerda Hirsch of Elk Run Heights.

Preceded in death by a son, Duane E.; a brother, James; and a sister, Donna Christensen.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, Waterloo, with burial in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Bud and his wife raised Semital cattle on their acreage near Dysart, which he enjoyed very much. After moving to town, he loved fishing, mowing lawns and being outside. He also loved family poker games.
