WATERLOO - James "Jim" Read, 88, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Waterloo, died Jan. 21, at Hospice in Miami.

He was born May 2, 1923, in Iowa City. He married Margaret "Peggy" Cady in 1964.

Mr. Read graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1942, then graduated from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, following 3 1/2 years in the U.S. Navy.

Survived by his wife; and a sister, Virginia.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack.

Allen and Shaw Cremations, Opa-Locka, Fla., assisted the family.
