Emma M. Poock, 94 of Waterloo, Iowa, formerly of Readlyn, Iowa, died on Monday, May 12, 2003 at home of natural causes.

Emma was born on December 14, 1908, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Clara (Diercks) Schneider. She was baptized on January 3, 1909 and confirmed on March 25, 1923 both at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Grove Hill, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Herbert W. Poock on November 26, 1936 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Readlyn, Iowa. The couple had lived in the Readlyn area. Herbert died on December 1, 1978. She had moved to Waterloo to live with her daughter in 2001.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Readlyn where she was a member of the church sewing circle. She enjoyed gardening and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Doris Studer of Waterloo, Iowa; two sons, Donald Poock of Waterloo, Iowa; Lowen Poock of Briny Breezes, Florida; four grandsons, Alan Poock, Martin Poock, Gary Studer, Michael Studer and his wife, Michelle; three great grandchildren, Lance Studer, Logan Studer and Sasha Studer; a brother Ervin Schneider and his wife, Linda of Fairbank, Iowa; one sister, Florence Anderson and her husband, Richard of Harlingen, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert, one son in law, Ronald Studer, one brother, Herbert Schneider and one sister, Elnora Stumme.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2003 at 10:30 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Readlyn, Iowa with Pastor Maury Ellwein officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Readlyn. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Readlyn and for one hour before services at the church on Friday.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to Cedar Valley Hospice.
