WATERLOO - Esther May Thomas, 88, of Waterloo, died Friday, Jan. 27, at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo.

She was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Shell Rock, daughter of Rolland E. and Sula Emaline Poe Turner. She married Wilbur D. Thomas Dec. 16, 1942, at Baptist Church in North Chicago, Ill.

She graduated from Orange High School in Black Hawk County. Mrs. Thomas was employed at Ben Franklin, Health Food Stores for 20 years, and Friendship Village for 14 years.

Survived by two sons, Rod (Gail) of Cedar Rapids and Dennis of Waterloo; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Arlene (Kenneth) Flickinger of Waterloo, Donna Schock of Dundee and Doris (Wayne) Fleshner of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a son, Jack; a brother, Warren Turner; and a sister, Ardith Card.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Unitarian Universalist Society, Cedar Falls, with inurnment in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford.
