WATERLOO - Marilyn M. Hoppe, 80, of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 23, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a long illness.

She was born June 5, 1931, in Chickasaw County, daughter of Edward and Lela Straw Draheim. She married Kenneth O. Hoppe on Oct. 16, 1948, in Nashua. He died April 29, 1988.

Mrs. Hoppe worked as a cook at Hoppe's Family Cafe, Hudson, and at the Waterloo Elks Club. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Survived by three sons, Michael (Nancy) of Ocala, Fla., and Todd (Paige) and Tim, both of Waterloo; a daughter, Amy (Dan) Olson of Waterloo; a son-in-Law, Jerry Budke of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bonnie Meighan of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Budke; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
