LANGLAS, YOUNG, LUKHART, SYVERTSON

WATERLOO - Margaret Young Langlas, 93, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, Jan. 24.

She was born May 27, 1918, in Waterloo, daughter of John Arthur and Gertrude Lukhart Young. She married William Carl Langlas on June 7, 1941, in Waterloo. He died Sept. 23, 1986.

Mrs. Langlas graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1936, attended the University of Colorado, UCLA, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a history degree in 1941.

Survived by five sons, Stephen of Billings, Mont, Bill (Jean), Steve (Missy) and Dave (Gini), all of Montana, and Don (Julie) of Illinois; a daughter, Sue (Jim) Syvertson of Montana; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by three brothers, John, Robert and Richard Young.

Celebration of Life services will take place at a later date for family and close friends. Arrangements by Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa and First Congregational Church.

Margie was devoted to her immediate and extended family as she became matriarch of the Langlas and Young families. In raising her children, Margie instilled in them the virtues of love, respect, and commitment to one another. She took great pride in financially supporting her local community and generously helped those in need. She considered herself fortunate and humbly shared her life with many friends and family.
