CEDAR FALLS - Richard "Dutch" Minikus, 68, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 19, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 30, 1943, in Cedar Falls, son of Les and Shirley Padget Minikus. He married Peggy Freemes Aarhus Dec. 28, 1968, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Minikus served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was employed by Cedar Falls Utilities in various departments including gas, tree trimming, and meter reading, retiring in 2004.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Larry Aarhus of Cedar Falls and Boyd Aarhus; a daughter, Michelle Aarhus of Washington; a grandson, Mike Aarhus of Colorado Springs whom they raised; a brother, Rod (Linda) of Cedar Falls; a sister, Wanda Bowles of Cedar Falls; and eight grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Darold "Whitey" Minikus.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Service, and also for an hour before services Wednesday at church. The body will not be present. Full military honors provided by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and the Iowa Army National Guard.
