WATERLOO - Helen L. Callaway, 86, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 14, at Allen Hospital of lymphoma.

She was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Peru, daughter of Edward and Gretchen Hermon Wagner. She married Marion L. Callaway on June 17, 1945, in Waterloo. He died Dec. 27, 1992.

Mrs. Callaway was the church secretary at First United Methodist Church for many years.

Survived by a son, Todd (Linda) of Baker City, Ore.; three grandchildren, Charles (Molly) and Gretchen Callaway, and Kimberly (Tim) Zinn; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Heiple, Luke and Bo Callaway, and Kaytee Zinn; a daughter-in-law, Janet Callaway of Waterloo; and her companion, John Bushby of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steven; and a sister, Martha Wagner.

Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball. The body will not be present.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Helen enjoyed life, friends and her church family. She also loved performing as a clown for church, children who were sick, nursing homes, and other community events. She was an avid gardener as well.
