Mike Anderson died Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. He was born November 23, 1948, in Berkley, Calif., the son of Louis W. "Bud" and Wanda Marie (Bixby) Anderson.
He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1967 and received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Hawkeye Tech.
On October 21, 1966, he was united in marriage to Judith Mae Grill at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls. He owned and operated Anderson Fabrications, worked for and then consulted with Deere and Co., then owned and operated Little King Deli at College Square Mall, and finally until his retirement in January of 2005, was church administrator and First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. He was past director on the board at College Square Mall, served on many committees at First United Methodist Church, and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, and Red Bird Mission and Church.
Mike is survived by his wife, Judy of Cedar Falls; daughters, Devon M. (Steve) Winters of Waterloo, and Lachelle (Lacy) M. Anderson and MeLinda M. (Mindy) Anderson, both of Cedar Falls; mother and step father, Wanda Anderson and George Peterson of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Brennen M. and Brien M. Winters, both of Waterloo; sister, Diane M. (Dennis) Schmidt of Cedar Falls; step mother, Jackie Anderson of Minnesota; and step brothers, Jeff Anderson of Minnesota and Ronald Peterson of Albuquerque, NM.
He was preceded in death by his father, step brother, Greg Anderson, step sister, Kathy Anderson, and loving companion, Beau.
