Purdy, 82, who died early Wednesday at the McCreedy rest home, Waterloo, where he had been a patient the past year are pending at Johanssen-Rossow funeral home; a lifelong resident of La Porte City, and worked many years as a section hand on the Rock Island and Waterloo railroad lines; survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mark Evans and Mrs. Walter Carlisle, both of Evansdale; Mrs. Loren Wheeler, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Frank Countryman, Cedar Rapids; two sons, Clifford, La Porte City, and Charles Jr., Palo; brother Ed, Vinton
