Frank Arthur Hanson was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Waterloo, Iowa: the son of Henry A. and Katherine Myrtle (Allen) Hanson. He graduated from Waterloo West High School. Frank married Joy B. Guernsey on Aug. 3, 1957, they later divorced. He was employed at John Deere as a toolmaker until retirement in 1976, after 33 years of service. After his retirement, Frank enjoyed building unusual boats and walking his beagle dogs.

Frank passed away of Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at the age of 84 following a brief illness.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Tami Sue Hanson and his ex-wife. Frank is survived by two daughters: Elaine Hanson and Sherry Hanson, both of Waterloo; a son Mark Hanson of Oregon; a grandson Nickolas Hanson and a sister Gretchen Kimberly of Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Public visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories. He will be cremated following visitation.
