Thomas Ilax was born August 24, 1959, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of James N. and Carolyn K. (Holmes) Ilax. Tom died Saturday, May 20, 2006 at his home.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School (1977), Hawkeye Tech with degree in drafting (1979) and the University of Northern Iowa with his Bachelor of Arts degree (1986). While at UNI, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

On March 1, 1995, he was united in marriage to Susan B. Dancer in Negril, Jamaica. He was employed at Iowa State University as an environmental coordinator and then owned and operated Caprice Printing from 1995 until present.

Tom is survived by his wife Susan of Cedar Falls; parents, James and Carolyn Ilax of Cedar Falls; brother, Todd J. (Julie) Ilax of Evansdale; and sister, Tracy K. Ilax of Osceola, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
