CEDAR FALLS - Verrille J. Mortimer, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 5, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born Nov. 18, 1925, in Belmond, son of Floyd and Nina Ebling Mortimer. He married Virginia L. Shirk Oct. 3, 1948, in Cedar Falls. She died Oct. 12, 2008.

Mr. Mortimer was an engineer with Rath Packing, Viking Pump and Chamberlains.

Survived by a son, Craig (Julie) of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Michelle (Craig) Ladwig and Stephen Mortimer; eight great-grandchildren, Travis, Brittney, Madison, Emma, Samantha, Stephanie, Isaiah and Katelyn; two sisters, Charlotte Carney of Redmond, Wash., and Margaret Smith of Des Moines; and a brother, Gary of Pasadena, Calif.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Daryl and Don.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Valley Community Church, Waterloo, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
