CEDAR FALLS - Doris A. Southard, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 29, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

She was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Clarksville, daughter of Fred and Frieda Freese Kramer. She married Talmage Southard May 19, 1941, in Waterloo. He died Aug. 3, 2005.

She attended Clarksville School, and brailed for the blind at Iowa School for the Blind for more than 40 years. She taught students worldwide via correspondence and traveled the country for speaking engagements for many years. She authored the instruction manual "Lessons in Bobbin Lace Making".

Survived by a son, Ron (Carole) of Buena Vista, Colo.; her former daughter-in-law, Lynda Southard of Aplington; four grandchildren, Bridgett (Clyde) Johnson of West Bend, Kim (John) Koch of Aplington, Mitch (Tracey Rideout) Southard of Austin, Texas, and Heather (Chad) Pruisner of Parkersburg; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl (Valgean) Kramer of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Edward Kramer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Stout Gospel Hall, Stout, with burial in Butler Center Cemetery, near Allison. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the Gospel Hall.

Memorial fund will be established.
