WATERLOO - Robert M. "Bob" O'Neill, 79, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, Dec. 26.

He was born Aug. 31, 1932, in Elma, son of Vern and Rosina Delsing O'Neill. He married Rose Ann Fox on Aug. 31, 1957, in New Haven.

Mr. O'Neill was employed with Zeidler's Inc. for 23 years and later with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 17 years, retiring in 1998. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Peggy O'Neill of Iowa City and Sandy (Ken) Schooley of Seattle; two sons, Mic (Lisa) of Waterloo and Dennis (Andi) of Dike; and eight grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Hinders; a brother, Joe; and a sister, Margaret Ann Hadlick.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 5 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
