CEDAR FALLS - John C. Young, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Dec. 16, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Nashville, Tenn., son of Denver and Mary Jane Pyle Young, and was raised by his adoptive parents, Harry and Margaret DeHaan. He married Audrey Sanders on June 13, 1952, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Young graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a supervisor at Viking Pump Co.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Craig (Cindy) of West Chicago, Ill., Chris (Beth) of Aurora, Ill., and Jeff (Holly) of Vadnais Heights, Minn.; two daughters, Judy Dugan of Johnston and Tracy Young of North Liberty; and six grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Rollins.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, with inurnment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Service. Full military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

Memorial fund will be designated at a later date.
