WATERLOO - Roy Rasmussen, 70, of Riverside, Calif., formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Dec. 10, from injuries sustained in a pedestrian-car accident in Riverside.

He was born July 16, 1941, in Grundy County, son of Carl and Anna T. Dall Rasmussen. He married Judy Orth, and they later divorced.

Mr. Rasmussen attended school in Cedar Falls and was employed as an over-the road truck driver until retiring.

Survived by two daughters, Rita of Corona, Calif., and Lorrie of Oklahoma; two sons, Tim of Orange, Calif., and Roy Jr. of Riverside; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Fran Gardner of Winterset and Carolyn Clendennen of Waterloo; and his former wife of Cypress, Calif.

Preceded in death by a brother, John.

Services are today at Arlington Mortuary, Riverside, followed by cremation, with inurnment in Cedar Falls at a later date.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY -- A 70-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car while he was crossing a street in Fontana. Roy Rasmussen, of Fontana, was attempting to cross the 16300 of Foothill Boulevard at about 10:54 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a Nissan Sentra traveling on the westbound lanes.

Following the horrific accident, the driver of the vehicle stopped and is cooperating with police, while Rasmussen was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:52 a.m. Sunday.

Fontana police is investigating the collision.
