Kenneth R. Schlicht, 83, of Hudson, died Thursday, Nov. 27, at ManorCare Health Services of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Reinbeck, son of Emil and Lois Ohrt Schlicht. He married Willadean Rasmussen on March 28, 1945, in Hudson. She died Dec. 31, 2002.

Mr. Schlicht attended Hudson School and worked at the Hudson Co-Op Dairy, Carnation and Swiss Valley until retiring in 1983.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Japan during the occupation following World War II. He was past commander of Hudson Anderson AMVETS Post 82 and was a member of the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department.

Survived by: two sons, Jack of Hudson and Richard of New London, Wis.; two daughters, Dena (Jerry) Volker of Hudson and Dawn (Rick) Howerton of Gilbert; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren (Dorothy) of Cedar Falls; two brothers-in-law, Cecil (Ruth) Rasmussen of Traer and Leon Christensen of Reinbeck; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and a sister, Dorothy Christensen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Community Church of Hudson, with burial in Hudson Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Hudson AMVETS Post 82, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home.
