WATERLOO - Harriet Garlock, 93, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Nov. 26, at Rosewood Estate of Friendship Village of natural causes.

She was born March 28, 1918, in Bruce Township, Benton County, daughter of John L. and Beatrice J. Cooper Kerr. She married Lawrence "Larry" Garlock on Aug. 25, 1941, at Geneseo Methodist Church in Waterloo.

She graduated from Orange Township Consolidated Schools in 1935, Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) in 1940, and attended UNI graduate school. She taught at West Junior High School from 1959-73 and owned and operated Candle Glow Antiques from 1974-89. She was a member of First Congregational Church, past president of PEO Chapter LO, member of Funtique Chapter of Questers and Cedar Falls Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survived by her husband; three daughters, Gretchen Van Houten of Littleton, Colo., Janice (Mitch) Sickles of Geneva, Ohio, and Julie (Jim) Archibald of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Ibbotson of Tingley; and a brother-in-law, Curt Glessner of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice Fosse, Mary Glessner and Trudy Grimes.

Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home. Public visitation will be held for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Rosewood Estate Memorial Fund.
