MEHLICH, VOGT, COWGER, HILDEGARD

WATERLOO - Richard Paul Mehlich, 85, of Buckeye, Ariz., formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, Nov. 20, at Grandview Care Facility in Arizona after a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Grosstrehlitz, Germany. He married Hildegard Vogt on Jan. 1, 1964, at First Congregational Church.

Mr. Mehlich was a veteran of World War II and immigrated to Waterloo in 1954. He was employed at Webbeking Bakery and had retired after 26 years from John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works. He was a member of First Congregational Church and the United Auto Workers.

Survived by his wife; a son, Peter of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Karin (Jim) Cowger of Ankeny; a sister, Hildegard in Poland; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Friedel; and two sisters, Rosa and Edel.

Memorial services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel, Sun City West, Ariz.

Memorials may be directed to First Congregational Church, Waterloo.

Richard is remembered as a family man who loved life, and he will be missed by his family, his friends both American and German, and by his co-workers.
