LA PORTE CITY - Becky L. Phelps, 64, of La Porte City, died Thursday, Nov. 17, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after a short illness.

She was born Sept. 3, 1947, in Waterloo, daughter of Lloyd and Lessie Harris Appleton. She married Gary Purdy. They later divorced. She married Delbert Blocker. They later divorced. She married Norm Phelps May 26, 1990, in La Porte City. He died July 12, 2009.

She was an LPN at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab for many years.

Survived by five sons, Rob (Angie) Purdy of La Porte City, Jason Blocker of Cedar Rapids, Shannon (Jenny) of Cedar Rapids, Craig (Diana) Blocker of Farmington, Mo., and Jim (Diane) Blocker of Sterling Heights, Mich.; three daughters, Kari Wright of La Porte City, Shimen (Darryl) Averhoff of Shell Rock and Pat Blocker of Aurora, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Randy (Diane) Appleton of Blakesburg; and a sister, Kathy Berner of Independence.

Preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Werner.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City, with burial in Bear Creek Cemetery, rural Brandon. Public visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. today at La Porte City Funeral Service, and also for an hour before services Monday at the church.
