HUDSON - Miss Mary Anne Twaits, 78, died Tuesday night at Presbyterian Hospital in Waterloo. She was taken to the hospital Monday and underwent a major operation Tuesday morning.

She was born June 7, 1867, at Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Twaits, who had come from England in 1862. She moved with her parents to a farm in Eagle Township, Black Hawk County, in 1871, and in 1906 to Waterloo, where they lived 15 years.

Her father died in Waterloo and she moved with her mother and a brother, George, to Hudson in 1921 and had lived here since.

She leaves two other brother, Leman, Austin, Minnesota and Tom, Big Stone Lake, South Dakota.

Preceded by her parents and three brothers, James, John and Joe.
