CEDAR FALLS - Valerie Marie Maas, 35, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Grace Baptist Church in Waterloo, under the auspices of Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene, 3622 Hammond Ave., Waterloo. Inurnment will be at later date.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Hope Lodge in Iowa City.

Valerie Marie Maas was born April 6, 1976, in Owatonna, Minn., the daughter of Lyle and Judy (Brandau) Maas. Valerie was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and Hawkeye Community College. She loved working at the Howard Johnson Motel in Waterloo and was a cashier at the University Avenue Hy-Vee in Waterloo.

Survivors include her parents, Lyle Maas of Cedar Falls and Judy Maas of Osage; two sisters, Nancy (Larry) Solberg of Mason City and Kristine (Chris) Tate of Orlando, Fla.; a nephew, Michael Solberg, of Mason City; maternal grandmother, Joan Brandau, of Osage; two stepchildren, James John Stanton of Cedar Falls and Chris Stanton of Independence, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Valerie was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Marie Stanton; paternal grandparents, Paul and Emma Maas, and her maternal grandfather, George Brandau.
