LA PORTE CITY, IOWA - Kenneth LeRoy Sears, 81, of La Porte City, died Monday, November 7, at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born November 5, 1930, in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Homer and Mae Stahl Sears. He married Eugenia Vanderheyden on July 10, 1952, at Geneseo United Methodist Church, Geneseo. She died June 17, 2010.

Mr. Sears graduated from Geneseo High School, then served in the U.S. Army. He farmed in the Traer and La Porte City areas until retirement. He was a member of Geneseo United Methodist Church and Dysart American Legion.

Survived by two daughters, Margaret (Kevin) Perrinjaquet of Edgewood and Rhonda (Myron) Jack of Victor; a son, Kevin of White Rock, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandsons; a brother, Art (Beth) of Hiawatha, Kansas; three sisters, Rhoda Wilkinson of Fayette, Dorothy Elliott of Dysart and Wilma Holub of Buckingham; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Sears and Shirley Sears, both of Grinnell; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth (Kenneth) Sears Temple and Lois (Bill) Sears Danker; two brothers, Donald and Edgar; and three brothers-in-law, Keith Wilkinson, Dean Elliott and Norman Holub.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Geneseo United Methodist Church, rural Buckingham, with private family burial in Spencer Cemetery, rural Buckingham. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Dysart American Legion.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church

Kenneth remained on the farm after retiring and enjoyed spending time in the timber and doing woodcarving, especially ducks and fish.
