WATERLOO, IOWA - Sharon N. Wendel, 75, of Waterloo, died on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 22, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Mason City, Iowa. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, at the funeral home.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 23, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1926 Sager Ave., Waterloo, with the Pastor Greg Cluts officiating.

WATERLOO, IOWA - Sharon N. Wendel, age 75, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Lauryl Ivers officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, December 21, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1926 Sager Ave., Waterloo, with Pastor Greg Cluts officiating.

Sharon N. Wendel was born November 28, 1936, at Park Hospital in Mason City. She grew up in Clear Lake. where she enjoyed her education at the local Country School, Lincoln No. 9, and then attended Clear Lake High School. In 1960, she married Tom Wendel and spent the next 51 years caring for him, their children, and their home.

Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling to see them. Her morning coffee and crossword puzzle, bingo with the girls, and cheering on the local Iowa sports teams were the highlights of her week.

She was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Her faith in God caused her much celebration throughout her life.

She is survived by: her husband, son Jon (Deb) Wendel of Johnston, two daughters Shayla (Marv) Sessions of Stuttgart, Germany, and Shelley (Jon) Schrage of Ottumwa. Sharon had eight grand- children. She has one sister, Margaret Loomer, of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Edwin and Gertrude Doescher, brother Harold Doescher and daughter Sheryl Wendel.
