Timothy Loren Moeller, 46, of Waterloo, Iowa, formerly of Tripoli, Iowa, died on Monday, May 3, 2004, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo from complications of pneumonia.
Tim was born on July 20, 1957, at Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo, the son of Loren and Lois (Blasberg) Moeller. He was baptized on August 11, 1957, at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli and later confirmed on March 26, 1972. Tim attended school in Tripoli and graduated from Tripoli High School in 1975. After graduation, Tim worked with his dad at Moeller Construction Company. Tim's earlier years were active and memorable. He enjoyed wrestling, hunting, canoeing, camping, and spending time with his family and friends.
Tim was united in marriage to Karla Kueker on October 25, 1980, at Grace Lutheran Church. During the summer of 1984, they purchased Tim's grandparents' house with plans of remodeling.
On September 6, 1984, Tim and Karla were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Melissa. In 1989, Tim and Karla were divorced.
Tim's life took a tragic turn on September 21, 1984. He was working road construction on Highway 63, when he was struck by a drunk driver. Suffering from a severe head injury, Tim was hospitalized for several months at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo, and Craig Rehab in Denver, Colorado. Tim returned home briefly, then was admitted to Harmony House in Waterloo. Tim also resided at Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly, Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center in Waterloo, and most recently, Rosewood Estates in Waterloo.
Tim is survived by his daughter, Melissa, who is currently attending Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids; his parents, Loren and Lois Moeller of Tripoli; two brothers and their families - Mark, Terri, Lisa, and Michael Moeller, and Nathan, Jocelyn, and Morgan Moeller, all of Tripoli; one sister and her family - Gail, Matthew, and John Sexton of Tripoli, and Timothy Sexton of Iowa City. Tim was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ben and Hulda Moeller; his maternal grandparents, Henry and Emma Blasberg; several aunts and uncles; and three cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2004 at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli, Iowa. Burial will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Tripoli, Iowa. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
