Robert H. “Bob” Froehner, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, August 22, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born August 16, 1924 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Albert and Lillian (Wickey) Froehner. Bob married Ramona Wingerter on March 25, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muscatine. He was a 1942 graduate of Muscatine High School and attended Muscatine Junior College. Bob served with the US Navy for three years in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WW II. He worked at Kent Feeds for thirty-four years, retiring as the Waterloo Plant Manager in 1985. Bob was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona, of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Beth (Mike) Harn of Finchford, Iowa, Susan (Pete) Switenki of Medina, Minnesota and Nancy (Dan) Ford of Mason City, Iowa; four sons, Robert (Kay) Froehner of Cedar Falls, Tom (Jessica) Froehner of Columbus, Nebraska, Jim (Mary Shay) Froehner of Estepona, Spain and Paul (Wynette) Froehner of Jesup, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, Joy Winkowitsch, Patience Avelson, Merry Arms-Adair, Nick Ford, Nina Appleby, Anna Ford, Hannah Redix, Clayton & Caden Froehner, Nathan & Jesse Froehner, Joseph, Jordan & Ysabel Froehner, and eleven great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joe Froehner; a grandson, Joseph; a brother, Warren Froehner, and a sister, Betty Singleton.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Tuesday, August 26, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where a 4 pm Rosary & 7 pm Vigil Service will be conducted. Visitation also one hour before service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
