WATERLOO - Glen A. Johnson, 83, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Oct. 27, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born July 15, 1928, in Ortonville, Minn., son of Oscar W. and Anna Marie Johnson. He married Irene M. Larson Dec. 27, 1956, in Doran, Minn.

He graduated from Ortonville High School in 1946, and received a bachelor of science degree in ag engineering from North Dakota State in 1958. Mr. Johnson worked for John Deere from 1958-84, retiring as a senior engineer, and taught at UNI for several years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was past president of Waterloo Optimist Club, a member of Waterloo Technical Society, Society of Automotive Engineers, American Legion, treasurer for Lutheran Brotherhood Fraternal 8641, and past president of Lutheran Men in Mission of Northeast Iowa.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Wanda of Plymouth, Minn.; a son, Gregory of Washington, Maine; and a sister, Ruth Hoernemann of Ortonville, Minn.

Preceded in death by four brothers, Carl A., Harold J., Warner R. and LeRoy Johnson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Public visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to a church scholarship fund or Cedar Valley Hospice.
