Geneva Lantz Till, 90, began her life on Oct. 24, 1920, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and left this life on Oct. 8, 2011, in Naples, Fla.

Geneva grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa, before moving to Hannibal, Mo., to raise her family. The family moved to Florida in 1965 and became the ninth family to reside in Golden Gate.

Geneva taught school in Cedar Falls, Hannibal and Collier County before retiring at age 73. She loved to volunteer, especially with children. She was named Florida Volunteer of the year for AARP and the 1999 Golden Gate Citizen of the Year. She worked tirelessly with Kiwanis, Collier County Parks & Rec Board, Messiah Lutheran Church and other causes too numerous to mention. When not volunteering, she enjoyed her coffee, cards and board games.

Geneva was a veteran of World War II, serving as staff sergeant in the Army. Geneva cherished her family and friends.

She is survived by her children: Susan (Ron) Nordstrom, John (Susan), Mary Lou and Elizabeth Anne; grandchildren: Andy Raina, Brian, Lee, Shannon, Traci, Kevin, Kellee and Christa; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 723 Washington St., Cedar Falls, Iowa. Lunch to follow.
