WATERLOO - Mike Chrasta, 87, of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 10, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Toledo, son of Frank and Mary Smat Chrasta. He married Rose Sprio on July 4, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Mr. Chrasta graduated from Toledo High School, Toledo, and attended the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He worked at Rath Packing Co. and later at John Deere PEC for 33 years. He also was a gunnery instructor in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Rose Chrasta of Cedar Falls; three sons, Paula (Randy) McDougall of Cedar Falls, Mike (Kathy) Chrasta of Wylie, Texas, and Todd Chrasta of Waterloo; three grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene Crozier of Phoenix.

Preceded in death by a son, Tommy; a daughter, Holly; and a sister, Helen Ernst.

Memorial Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 1:30 p.m. until services Friday at the funeral home.
