WATERLOO - James W. Ackerman, 73, of Macon, Ga., formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 3, in Macon.

He was born Feb. 26, 1938, in Waterloo, son of Lester and Dorthy Lawless Ackerman.

Mr. Ackerman served in the U.S. Army and was formerly employed by Waterloo Industries, prior to moving to Macon.

Survived by two sons, James Jr. of Waterloo and Jeffrey (Karen) of Macon; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Neva Petersen and Virginia (Helmet) Dickmann, both of Waterloo; and five brothers, Wayne (Rose), Richard and Paul (Charlene), all of Waterloo, LaVerne R. of Ames, and Gerald D.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don; and two sisters, Cathy Sagert and Marlene Koopman.

Private Services Saturday at Lake Joliet, Macon.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 79 McKay Lane, Dry Branch, GA 31020.

Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter, but mostly loved his family and time spent with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
