CEDAR FALLS - Beverly Lorraine McCarter, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Sept. 23, at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls.

She was born Sept. 11, 1925, in St. Paul, Minn., daughter of Joseph and Ida Marie Johnson Flaherty. She married John L. McCarter May 27, 1944, in Seattle. He died March 17, 2002.

She was a business partner with her husband at McCarter Excavating.

Survived by a son, John L. (Mary) of Dike; two daughters, Cathey K. (Ron) Brown and Nancy (David Zeien) Judas, both of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a son-in-law, Larry Simmons of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Donnie Simmons; and a brother, Joseph Flaherty.

Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.
