WATERLOO - Carrie V. Hollingsworth, 88, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 18, at ManorCare Health Services of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 12, 1922, in Fulton, Mo., daughter of James and Laura Mae Duncan Cheatom. She married Leon Bennett in May 1943 in Seattle and they later divorced. She then married John Hollingsworth Feb. 14, 1969, in Waterloo. He died in 1978.

Mrs. Hollingsworth was an LPN at Allen and Schoitz Hospitals, and then at Dr. Warren Nash's office, retiring in 1978.

Survived by a son, Larrie (Tina) Bennett of Gaithersburg, Md.; a daughter, Roberta "Darlyne" Bennett of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Larrie Bennett II, Brittany Bennett and Bryan Bennett; a great-grandson, La'Rai Bennett; a niece, Carrie B. Kelley; an adopted sister, Allie P. Kincaid; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by four brothers, Marvin, Eugene, George and Irvin Cheatom; and three sisters, Margaret Gardner, Leola Anderson and Louise Cheatom.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and also for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Family will receive friends at 1877 Pinehurst Court.
