WATERLOO - Elizabeth A. "Liz" Tannreuther, 57, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Oct. 21, 1953, in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., daughter of Everett J. and Shirley Black Axline. She married William "Bill" Tannreuther Aug. 20, 1983, at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren.

She graduated from Orange High School in 1972 and from UNI in 1976. Mrs. Tannreuther worked at John Deere for 31 years, retiring in 2008. She was a member of South Waterloo Church of the Brethren where she sang in the choir, served on the church board and was active in Christian Education, volunteered at Orange Elementary School and received the Mayor's Volunteer award in 2010.

Survived by her husband; her mother of Waterloo; a sister, Sue (Bill) Smoldt of Cedar Falls; a niece and nephew, Jordan and Aaron Smoldt of Cedar Falls; her parents-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Charlotte Tannreuther of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Ann Tannreuther of Waterloo; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by her father.

Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren, with a private family committal service in Orange Township Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to South Waterloo Church of the Brethren Christian Education, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa Scholarship Fund for Elizabeth Axline Tannreuther, Cedar Valley Hospice or Orange Elementary School.
